January Issue

Last month we journeyed to Bethlehem to explore God’s amazing rescue plan for humanity. We began with the birth of a special man named John who would prepare the way for the Messiah. Next, we met Mary and Joseph and followed them to a special manger called Migdal Eder. We also met the shepherds with whom God trusted the amazing news of Jesus birth, and finally the wise men from the east who followed a star to meet their Messiah.

This month we are learning what it looks like to trust God and obey His words, especially when those words don’t seem to make sense. First, we will meet a man named Moses. God chose to promote him as a leader for His people. Even though Moses’s credentials were seriously lacking, God demonstrates that He doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies those He calls. This gives us hope that we don’t have to strive to be “good enough” for God to use.

Next, we will travel to a city named Jericho and watch as God’s unusual battle plans cause its thick, strong walls to come tumbling down. Then we will pop into the New Testament and learn how Philip trusted God and took a walk. He didn’t know his destination, but through his obedience, an Ethiopian official discovered Jesus, and Philip discovered supernatural transportation! Finally, we will see God move in the heart of His apostle Peter to reach the Gentiles for Jesus!

Isaiah 55:8-9 tells us that God’s ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. While we will never get to a place where we understand all that God is doing, we can trust His plans are always good. We can choose a life of obedience realizing that with our “yes”, we embark on a lifetime of adventure with the One who loves us best.

“God is my Savior. I will trust him and not be afraid. The Lord gives me strength and power. He is my savior.” Isaiah 12:2
