March Issue

Last month we discovered how God puts dreams into our hearts and how He loves to partner with us to see them come true. We learned that dreaming with God can and should outlive us, that it sometimes requires teamwork, and that our dreams are contagious. Finally, we learned how we honor God when we give Him permission to reshape or expand our dreams.

This month we will be looking at the topic of repentance. When we sin, we break God’s laws and grieve His heart. It affects not only our lives but the lives of those around us. In order to be reconciled to our Heavenly Father and to those we’ve hurt, we must repent. The Bible is full of examples of people who have fallen short of God’s glorious standard but chose to repent and turn to God rather than continue in their sin.

First, we will meet a king named Josiah who, having discovered he and his people were disobeying God’s commands, turned his entire nation back to following the one true God. We will see how even a man after God’s own heart made a really BIG mistake and needed to repent for his bad choices. We’ll follow John the Baptist down to the Jordan River as he preached a message of repentance and even baptized Jesus! Finally, we’ll learn what Jesus says about the subject through the parable of the prodigal son.

Tackling a deep subject like repentance can feel a little daunting, but it is a necessary component of our lives as believers. As Resurrection Sunday draws closer, our children will be gaining a deeper understanding of why repentance is so important and how they can receive God’s beautiful gift of salvation through Jesus.

“If we confess our sIns to HIm, He Is faithful and
just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from
all wIckedness.” 1 JoHn 1:9
