June Issue
What a busy month! May brought a flurry of activities from dancing to graduations, to the start of a great summer! Throughout it all, our Kingdom Kids learned how they can be brave and trust that God is always with them. Just as God took care of his people even in scary circumstances like a lion’s den or even a fiery furnace, God will always take care of His children. Listening to and following only God is the safest and best place for us to be.
This month we are starting a new unit study all about God’s provision. One of the names of God in the Bible is Jehovah Jireh. It means, “The Lord Provides” We will be looking at the lives of some special people in the Bible who saw God’s promised provision through extraordinary circumstances. We’ll also discover how God uses us, His special people, to be a blessing to others.
We’ll start off by following a prophet named Elijah. His story is for the birds! Well, how God sent birds to help him that is. Next, we’ll meet another man with a confusingly similar name, Elisha. God used this man to show how He takes care or our everyday needs, whether it’s finding a lost axe or decontaminating a poisonous stew!
We’ll hear from Jesus how much our Father loves us and how we don’t have to worry because God will always take care of us, just like He does His creation. Finally, we will learn that one of the ways that God provides for His people is through His people. We are called to be a blessing to others and to share and help those in need. In this way we share God’s heart with the world.
Our power verse for this month comes from Philippians 4:19 “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

BEE Attitudes
Kingdom Kids is launching a special four-week series on Wednesday nights starting June 7th. This class starts at 7pm and coincides with the adult class “Rereading Genesis” taught by Brad Smith.
We will be checking out Jesus’ famous “Sermon on the Mount” focusing specifically on the first eleven verses. These verses tell us how we can be happy by adopting attitudes that please and honor God.
Each night we will take on a few of these “bee-attitudes” and learn how to apply them to our lives. We will also have a simple snack and fun craft to help reinforce what we’ve learned.
Come along as we learn what the great commission is and how we can BE BOLD and share our faith with others. We’ll hear exciting stories from some early expeditioners in the Bible named Paul, Silas, and Phillip who boldly carried the gospel all over the world.
Along the way we’ll learn some “sea shanties”, enjoy some yummy food from the galley, play a life-size game of Battleship and more!
Here’s What’s Happening
June 4th is the performance date for our Music and Movement kids! They have been practicing hard and are excited to share what they have learned with our congregation.
The “Bee Attitudes” Class is starting Wednesday June 7th from 7pm-8pm and will go through Wednesday June 28th.
There will be nursery volunteers for our littlest Kingdom Kids during these Wednesday classes for any “grown–up” who would like to attend Brad’s class but needs childcare.
The Great Commission Expedition is about to set sail Saturday, July 8th, from 9:30 am – 5:00 pm! We want to impact our community in a big way this summer, and we need your help to make that happen. Invite friends, neighbors, and everyone you meet, and let’s share the love of Jesus to the kids in our community!
There will be registration that morning starting at 9:30. However, we are capping registration at 50 children. You can register early now by clicking here: VBS Registration Those who register by July 5th will receive a special goodie bag at parent pickup at the end the day!

Meet The Teacher
I moved to Bristol from Elizabethton in 2004. My journey with First Christian Church began after attending several churches in the area searching for God. I found Him in 2006 when I walked through the doors of our church. I felt His Spirit in the service and also felt that spirit in the people. I still feel God’s spirit in our church and the hearts of the congregation today.
I’ve been involved in children’s ministry off and on since 1981. I really enjoy working with the younger children and feel so blessed to watch them learn and grow in God’s teachings. I have been retired for over a year now and have enjoyed the opportunity to be more involved in other programs in our church. My husband and I have two grown children and 2 beautiful granddaughters.
