 June Issue

Last month we had fun exploring how God created us for relationships, not just with Him, but also with one another. We looked at some special friendships in the Bible to help us learn how to be a good friend, and what to look for in a friend.

This month we are gleaning lessons from a book called Created to Hear God. In this book, author Havilah Cunnington invites us on a journey to learn how God speaks to His children, and how we are
uniquely made to discern His voice. God is so big and multifaceted! He is not limited to one simple form of communication, nor are we created to only hear God’s voice in only one way.

We will talk about four “prophetic personalities”. These different personalities reveal how God speaks to us as individuals. We will meet Hearers, who hear God; Seers, who see God; Feelers, who discern God through emotions; and Knowers, who experience God through strong, intuitive impressions.

With each personality we will look at people in the Bible who discerned God’s voice in these ways. The goal is to stir excitement and curiosity in our children to discover the unique ways that God speaks to them. It’s also to reinforce the truth that God does speak to the young and the old alike, as we are all created to know and follow our Shepherd’s voice.

“I wIll Instruct you and teach you In the way whIch you
should Go. I wIll counsel you with my eye upon you.”
Psalm 32:8 ESV
